Two older Accessible Properties homes, moved from Mt Maunganui to Gate Pā in February, have been fully refurbished and upgraded from the inside out.
Project Manager Dave Orrell says he absolutely loved the project and is really proud of it.
“The fact that they were recycled rather than ending up in a landfill is what does it for me. “I’d do it again in a heartbeat!”
Relocated after careful planning and in the dark of night,the houses have been fully reclad and insulated.
They’ve got sunny new decks opening up from new ranch sliders, new living layouts, fresh carpets and paint, and heat pumps for year‑round comfort.
Tenants have just moved into one of the two-bedroom homes and the other one will be filled in a week or two.
Work is well under way on the old section in Mt Maunganui which will have nine much needed new homes for families of different sizes.
